Features
A flaw has to remove an option
✋
No empty hand
Refusing help is both hands full and a strap nobody else can take. An open palm offering the load is a different person.
🪑
The chair they are not in
Vanishing from plans is a pulled-out chair and a coat already by the door. Drawing them mid-party deletes the flaw.
📄
The blank page
Cannot-start is perfect tools and no first mark. A half-finished masterpiece is the opposite problem. Keep the page empty.
🏷
One mismatched detail
Petty lies show up as two watches, or a name tag turned inward. A full disguise is a plot. The flaw is the small thing that does not match.
Guide
How to use a flaw in an OC design
One flaw, one visible consequence, then stop
11
Choose one flaw
Read the list or re-roll inside a group: social, nerve, judgment, or competence. Stop at one. A second flaw should argue with the first later, not ride along today.
22
Keep the prop or the posture
Full hands, a blank page, a token worn too openly. If you can delete the flaw and the pose stays heroic and open, it was only a word in a bio.
33
Write it into the person
Put the design line on a character sheet, or send it to the playground. The backstory generator can turn the same flaw into a beat. Still no sign-in.
FAQ
OC Flaws List FAQs
Is this OC flaws list free?▾
Yes. Read it, re-roll it, and copy from it in the browser. No sign-in, no subscription, no credit packs, and no premium tier.
Does the picker use AI?▾
No. It chooses from a fixed list written for this page. An image is created only if you open the playground afterward.
How many flaws should an OC have?▾
One, until you can draw it. A second flaw should contradict the first — over-prepared and also unable to start — and only after the first one is visible.
What is the difference between a flaw and a trait?▾
A trait can be neutral and still design the picture. A flaw removes something the easier version of the character would do: accept help, start the page, tell the small truth, sit in the chair they agreed to.
Can I use these for a villain?▾
Yes. The same poses work. A villain who refuses help is still both hands full. Do not swap the flaw for a darker costume and call that the personality.
Where should the flaw go on a sheet?▾
In the posture or the prop, and then as one written line under the image. The OC character sheet page is the picture. The bio template is the line. The backstory generator is the scene that made the prop necessary.

Pick a flaw that changes the picture
Sixteen flaws, each with the behavior and the prop or posture that shows it. Re-roll inside a group, or read the whole list. Drawing happens only if you send one to the playground.
Social
Refuses help
They will carry a crate that needs two people and call the struggle manners. An empty hand feels like a debt.
Design: Both hands full. The satchel strap is doubled so nobody else can take it. No open palm toward the viewer.
Do not add a speech about independence. The full hands are the line.
Character flaws get written as adjectives and then ignored by the drawing. “Stubborn” is not a pose. Refusing help is a pose: both hands full, the strap doubled, no palm open toward the viewer. Freezing at praise is a few degrees of shoulder away from the camera and the eyes on the cuffs. If you can delete the flaw and the figure is still heroic, open, and beautifully equipped, the flaw was a line in a bio. It has not designed anything.
This page is a curated OC flaws list, grouped into social habits, nerve, judgment, and competence. Each entry says what the flaw looks like in behavior and what to draw instead of a speech. The picker re-rolls inside a group. Copy the one you keep, or send it to the playground. The list is free, it runs in the browser, and it does not ask you to sign in. One flaw is enough for a first sheet. A second flaw is allowed later if it argues with the first.
Every useful flaw on this list does one of three things. It puts an object in the wrong place: a gift held one beat too long, a tool still hidden, a backup pouch that has never been opened. It changes the posture: chin up and feet too wide because they are scared, shoulders turned because someone complimented them, a lean over a page that is not theirs. Or it removes an option the “good” version of the character would have: they cannot start, so the page is blank; they will not rehearse, so one object is misused; they vanish from plans, so the chair is empty.
The note under each flaw, the thing to leave out, matters as much as the design line. A speech about independence on top of full hands says it twice and the speech is worse. A trophy pose on top of “freezes at praise” is a contradiction you did not mean. When the prose and the picture disagree, believe the picture you are willing to draw, and delete the other one.
Four pairings
Courier who lies about small things. The letters are honestly unopened — that part of the job is true — and the reason they were late is not. Draw two watches, or a ticket stub for a stop they told someone they skipped. The bag stays closed. The lie is petty, which is why it fits on a cuff and not in a masked identity.
Apprentice who cannot start. Issued clothes, sleeves down, tools in a row that could be a diagram, the practice page blank. The flaw is not ignorance. Ignorance would be a wrong mark. This is no mark. If you also make them the comic who has the keys, you have changed archetypes. Pick one.
Keeper who hoards the skill. They can open the door’s tricky latch and they watch someone else rattle it. Arms folded. The real tool is not on the belt where a mentor would wear it. The uniform can still be correct. The help is what is missing from the hands.
Friend who over-prepares. The silhouette is wider than the body: pockets, a second scarf, a sealed pouch with another of the thing they are already holding. They will not be caught without a pen. They will also not be fast when the plan changes. Do not “solve” the bulk with a sleek armor set. The bulk is the character.
When to stop
Stop at one flaw until the sheet can show it at thumbnail size. A cluster of “impatient, jealous, clumsy, secretive” is a mood board. The flaws list is sorted so you can re-roll inside one cause: nerve is not the same problem as judgment. If you want the flaw to generate a past, take the design line to the backstory generator and let the fear or the secret match it. Afraid of applause and freezes at praise are the same note from two sides. Write one.
A personality without a flaw tends to draw as a pleasant stand. Use the personality generator for the resting face, then come back here and remove one option that face would rather have. The bio template is where the sentence goes after the picture is decided. None of these steps are locked behind an account.
